Arden Park, Sacramento Phased Whole Home Remodel

Roxburgh: A Remodel in Step with Daily Life

Project Overview

Location: Arden Park, Sacramento, CA
Project Type: Full Home Remodel (Phased Renovation)
Scope: Kitchen, Living Room, Home Office, Owner’s Suite, Bathrooms, Laundry Room
Timeline: 2.5 Years
Investment: ~$250-300K

A Whole-Home Vision, Built Over Time

Originally a classic 1980s home, the Roxburgh property had been updated in pieces over the years—resulting in a disconnected mix of styles, finishes, and layouts. Like many Sacramento homes of this era, it featured outdated carpet and tile throughout, with no cohesive design direction tying the spaces together.

The homeowners—a growing family with an eye toward real estate investment—wanted to transform the home into a modern, functional space that could evolve with their needs. At the same time, they needed to approach the renovation strategically, completing the work in phases due to budget and timing constraints.

From the beginning, the goal was clear: create a unified, high-quality home that felt intentional—no matter how long it took to complete.

Client Goals

  • Create a cohesive, modern aesthetic throughout the entire home

  • Improve functionality for a growing family living through construction

  • Prioritize durable, long-lasting materials suitable for future rental use

  • Increase overall property value in the Arden Park Sacramento market

  • Execute the renovation in phases without sacrificing the final vision

The Challenge: Phased Renovation Without Losing Cohesion

Phased remodels often lead to disjointed results—but this project required the opposite.

The homeowners needed to:

  • Live in the home during construction

  • Spread investment over multiple years

  • Prioritize certain spaces based on immediate lifestyle needs

Without a clear long-term plan, this type of project can easily become another patchwork renovation. The challenge was ensuring every phase contributed to a single, cohesive end result.

The AB Bespoke Approach

What set this project apart was the strategy.

Before any construction began, AB Bespoke Home developed a complete vision for the entire property—including design direction, layout improvements, material selections, and a phased execution plan.

This allowed the homeowners to move forward with confidence, knowing that every decision supported the final outcome.

Phase 1: Structural + Foundational Updates

Before move-in, we completed all major disruptive work:

  • Select flooring replacement

  • Wall removals to improve layout and flow

  • Drywall repair

  • Full interior repaint

This created a clean, unified baseline for the rest of the project.

Phase 2: Kitchen Remodel

As the heart of the home, the kitchen was the top priority. Designed for a family that loves to cook, the space was reimagined to be open, functional, and visually cohesive with the long-term design plan. Because this was a family of chefs, the Kitchen was a top priority for them. New cabinetry, an updated layout with expanded countertop space and room for a coffee bar, layered lighting, and modern appliances made this kitchen the centerpiece of the newly refreshed home.

Phase 3: Home Office

With hybrid work schedules for the husband and wife, a dedicated and highly functional home office became essential. This phase focused on productivity, comfort, and integration with the home’s overall aesthetic. Undertaken during a family vacation, custom cabinetry was installed and painted in place for a high-end look that could be executed while the family was away to minimize lifestyle disruptions.

Phase 4: Secondary Spaces

Laundry room and children’s bathroom updates were completed to improve day-to-day functionality while aligning with the broader design vision. These ‘workhorse’ spaces can sometimes be overlooked in a remodel because they aren’t always the most glamorous. In reality, we all need to do laundry and having a functional space to do so can take the dread out of an otherwise mundane task.

Phase 5: Owner’s Suite Transformation

When the timing was right, we completed the final phase:

  • Full primary bedroom refresh

  • Completely redesigned layout

  • Removal of the bathtub to create a large, shared shower

  • Elevated, luxury finishes to create a truly tranquil retreat

Design & Features

  • Cohesive flooring and finish palette carried throughout the home

  • Durable material selections designed for long-term use and rental potential

  • Open-concept improvements to enhance flow and livability

  • Custom kitchen designed for serious home cooking

  • Expanded walk-in shower in the primary suite

  • Thoughtful space planning for a growing family

The Results

Today, the Roxburgh home feels like it was renovated all at once—even though it was completed over several years.

Instead of a disjointed mix of upgrades, the home now reflects a clear, intentional vision from room to room. The family enjoys a modern, functional space tailored to their lifestyle, while also benefiting from increased property value and long-term flexibility as a potential rental.

This project is a perfect example of how planning ahead can turn a phased remodel into a seamless transformation.
